The first indicator of my primo photography skillz surfaced from a sunrise view atop the 10,000’+ summit of Maui’s Mount Haleakalā. My parents, aunt, uncle, two cousins, and I woke at approximately 2:30 a.m. to catch a van ride up to the top of the volcano in order to arrive before this view rolled into focus. We then witnessed it in all its glory for about half an hour before biking down the volcano like a Tour de France team. This adventure is a popular tourist excursion and I highly recommend it if you ever find yourself in Maui. I would do it again.
